The change tape

The snapshot is useful; the changes are what matter. Every event has an effective date, the date we observed it, a source and an evidence class. Not every event is equally significant: a 13F position change is routine, a new CIO or a first direct deal in a new sector is not.

Ranked by significance: what kind of change it is, times its dollar size, times whose change it is (a family-capital office counts fully, a candidate or a service provider less), times how recently it happened. A deal or a hire this year leads; a fund first reported in 2012 is on the tape as history. Open a row for its score and its evidence.
