Active buy-and-build platforms
Platforms with a current sponsor that buys companies, at least two evidenced add-ons, one of them in the last 24 months, and a thesis the add-ons support. Strongest appetite first. The thesis is what the acquisitions show, not what the sponsor says. 50 platforms qualify today.
| Platform | Sponsor | Add-ons 12m | 24m | Last add-on | Observed thesis | Why now |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pye-Barker Fire & Safety High appetite | Leonard Green & Partners, L.P. | 16 | 58 144 total | Aug 31, 2026 | Locally established, often family- or veteran-owned fire protection, life-safety, and security/alarm service companies (fire extinguisher, sprinkler, suppression, fire alarm, monitoring, CCTV, access control) each tied to a specific city, metro area, or state not previously served (or lightly served) by Pye-Barker. Each deal plants or deepens Pye-Barker's flag in a new metro/state with an already-trusted local brand and technician base doing recurring inspection, testing, and monitoring work, letting the platform roll up a highly fragmented, locally-relationship-driven industry into a national footprint while layering the full fire-plus-security service suite onto each new local customer base. Evidence: 116 of 117 described add-ons (Metro Fire & Safety, Accurate Fire Protection, Inc., B & R Fire & Safety, Mitec, AA Fire...); 144 evidenced add-ons on record. strong confidence | Add-on in last 6 monthsSeveral add-ons this year |
| Wide Group High appetite | Pollen Street Capital | 6 | 7 12 total | Jul 9, 2026 | Insurance agencies brokerage businesses (8 of 8 sector-known add-ons) in undisclosed locations strong confidence | Add-on in last 6 monthsSeveral add-ons this yearSays it is acquiring |
| PestCo Holdings, LLC High appetite | Thompson Street Capital Manager LLC | 6 | 10 27 total | Jun 30, 2026 | Regional residential pest control providers, each an established local/regional leader with its own branch network and customer base in a state or metro area not previously covered by the platform (PA, IL/VA, TX, MD). Stitching together leading residential pest control operators state by state builds a national footprint and route/branch density in new geographies without the platform having to build local brand and technician infrastructure from scratch. Evidence: 4 of 5 described add-ons (Presto Pest Control, Pointe Pest Control – IL, LLC, Romney Pest Control, LLC, Phenom Pest Protection, LLC); 29 evidenced add-ons on record. strong confidence | Add-on in last 6 monthsSeveral add-ons this yearEntered a new state |
| Meritus Gas Partners High appetite | AEA Enterprise and 3 more | 5 | 9 24 total | Sep 2, 2026 | Local, family- or founder-owned independent distributors of packaged/industrial/specialty gases and welding & safety supplies, each with a handful of branch locations in a specific city or state. Each deal adds delivery-route density and branch coverage within a region (or extends into a new region) for the same cylinder-gas-and-welding-supply distribution model, so the combined platform gets more stops per route, purchasing scale, and a wider geographic footprint rather than a new product or customer type. Evidence: 15 of 19 described add-ons (Volunteer Welding Supply, Inc., Tulsa Gas & Gear LLC, Mitchell Welding Supply Co., MagneGas Welding Supply – South, LLC, OXARC...); 23 evidenced add-ons on record. established confidence | Add-on in last 6 monthsSeveral add-ons this yearEntered a new state |
| MARI High appetite | Redbird Capital Partners Management LLC | 5 | 5 5 total | Aug 11, 2026 | A mix of consumer-facing distribution/discovery platforms for live experiences (TodayTix's ticketing e-commerce, Bucket Listers' event discovery app) alongside owned content and production assets (Collect-A-Con's touring pop-culture events, ATG's theatrical producing and venues for shows like Wicked and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child). By combining the channels through which audiences discover and buy tickets to live experiences with the underlying content/production that fills those experiences, MARI links supply (events, productions, touring festivals) to demand (ticketing and discovery traffic), capturing economics on both sides of the live-events value chain. Evidence: 4 of 4 described add-ons (TodayTix Group, Bucket Listers, Collect-A-Con, ATG Entertainment); 5 evidenced add-ons on record. established confidence | Add-on in last 6 monthsSeveral add-ons this yearNew platform |
| Cobalt Service Partners High appetite | Alpine Investors | 5 | 12 18 total | Jul 13, 2026 | Regional commercial security system integrators (Toepfer, Digi Security, Digital Provisions, STS360) plus regional automatic/pedestrian commercial door installation and service businesses (Automatic Entrances of Wisconsin, Entrance Technologies, Nashville Door Closer) — each described as a leading or established provider in its niche or geography. The platform is building a broader commercial building-access services company by adding a second, adjacent product line (automatic/pedestrian door installation and service) alongside its core security-integration line, so it can offer a fuller suite of access and security systems to commercial facility customers while also deepening presence in each line through leading regional operators. Evidence: 7 of 7 described add-ons (Toepfer Security, Digi Security Systems, Digital Provisions, Automatic Entrances of Wisconsin, Entrance Technologies...); 18 evidenced add-ons on record. strong confidence | Add-on in last 6 monthsSeveral add-ons this yearEntered a new state |
| PureStar High appetite | Cornell Capital | 5 | 6 9 total | Jul 1, 2026 | Regional commercial laundry and dry-cleaning operators that serve hospitality customers (hotels, resorts, ski destinations) in specific local markets. Each acquisition extends the hospitality-laundry platform into a new regional market (New England, Colorado resort corridor, additional New England/Cape Cod capacity) rather than adding a new capability or product, building out a national footprint of locally-dominant laundry providers serving the same hospitality customer base. Evidence: 4 of 5 described add-ons (People’s Linen Services, Radiant Services Corp., Breck’s Commercial Laundries, Cape Cod Commercial Linen Service); 10 evidenced add-ons on record. established confidence | Add-on in last 6 monthsSeveral add-ons this year |
| ATIS High appetite | Thompson Street Capital Manager LLC and 1 more | 4 | 6 13 total | Aug 24, 2026 | Regional/state-based elevator and escalator inspection and consulting firms (e.g., in Florida, Colorado, Vermont, Nevada/Southwest) that each hold local reputations, regulatory expertise, and inspector relationships in their territories. Each add-on extends ATIS's inspection footprint into a new state or region, converting locally trusted independent inspectors into national coverage without needing to build state-specific regulatory relationships and licensure from scratch. Evidence: 10 of 11 described add-ons (Midwest Certified Elevator Inspections, Inc. d/b/a Midwest Elevator Inspection Services, Landmark Elevator Consultants, Kenneth H. Lemp Elevator Consultant Inc., A Smart Elevator Solution, LLC, 1 Able Elevator Inspector, LLC...); 13 evidenced add-ons on record. strong confidence | Add-on in last 6 monthsSeveral add-ons this yearNew platform |
| Wireless Logic High appetite | Montagu Private Equity and 2 more | 4 | 6 19 total | Aug 11, 2026 | A series of regional/national IoT and M2M connectivity and managed-service providers (Germany, France, Switzerland/EMEA-Asia, Italy, UK, USA/Texas, Brazil), each offering essentially the same core service — multi-network cellular/satellite/fixed-line IoT connectivity — to a distinct local or international customer base. Each acquisition adds an established local or regional IoT/M2M connectivity operator and its carrier relationships and customer base, extending Wireless Logic's multi-country network footprint and connectivity platform reach rather than adding a fundamentally different product or vertical. Evidence: 12 of 13 described add-ons (Mdex AG, M2MBlue, Matooma, Datamobile AG, New Line Mobile...); 19 evidenced add-ons on record. strong confidence | Add-on in last 6 monthsSeveral add-ons this year |
| Norlee Group High appetite | Heartwood Partners and 1 more | 4 | 4 4 total | Aug 6, 2026 | Established, local electrical contracting firms in adjacent Southeast US markets (Naples FL, Tampa, Augusta GA, Gainesville FL). Each add-on adds a well-established electrical contractor in a new nearby metro area, building out regional density and coverage in the electrical services trade rather than adding new capabilities or product lines. Evidence: 4 of 4 described add-ons (Beaumont Electric Company, Inter-Bay Electric Company, Ireland Electric Corporation, Vintage Electric, Inc.); 4 evidenced add-ons on record. established confidence | Add-on in last 6 monthsSeveral add-ons this yearNew platform |
| Mission Critical Group High appetite | Emerald Lake Capital Management, L.P. | 4 | 6 7 total | Aug 4, 2026 | Manufacturers of electrical power distribution and switchgear/e-house equipment serving mission critical applications like data centers. Both add-ons broaden the platform's product portfolio of power distribution and switchgear equipment sold into the same mission-critical/data center end markets, adding complementary product lines rather than just scaling existing capacity. Evidence: 2 of 2 described add-ons (DVM Power + Control, TxLa Systems); 2 evidenced add-ons on record. strong confidence | Add-on in last 6 monthsSeveral add-ons this yearSponsor closed a fund |
| Amplix High appetite | Gemspring Capital Management, LLC | 4 | 7 14 total | Jul 15, 2026 | Independent technology advisory and telecom/IT expense management firms that help clients source, negotiate, and manage vendor relationships and optimize technology spending. Each add-on is the same type of business (technology advisory/expense management) based in a different state (MA, CT, FL), so combining them extends the platform's footprint and client-serving presence into new geographies while keeping the same service offering. Evidence: 3 of 3 described add-ons (Net7, CORE Communications, OneConnect); 15 evidenced add-ons on record. emerging confidence | Add-on in last 6 monthsSeveral add-ons this yearSponsor closed a fundEntered a new state |
| Velosio High appetite | Court Square Capital | 3 | 4 5 total | Jul 1, 2026 | Independent Microsoft-ecosystem consultancies (ERP/Dynamics 365 implementers, an Azure/custom-development shop, an enterprise-focused Dynamics consultancy with industry specialization, and a long-tenured Dynamics practice) each with their own client base and area of technical depth. Each add-on contributes a distinct Microsoft-stack capability or specialization (ERP implementation, Dynamics 365/Cloud services, industry-specialized enterprise consulting, custom Azure development) that can be cross-sold across the combined client rosters of an otherwise single-line Dynamics consultancy platform. Evidence: 5 of 5 described add-ons (Silverware Inc., Strava Technology Group, Domain 6, Kopis, Acuitas); 5 evidenced add-ons on record. established confidence | Add-on in last 6 monthsSeveral add-ons this year |
| The Amlon Group High appetite | Heartwood Partners | 3 | 3 7 total | Apr 21, 2026 | A series of permitted (often RCRA Part B) hazardous/non-hazardous waste treatment, storage and disposal operators, each bringing a distinct processing capability or waste-stream specialty: general industrial waste (EcoWerks), metal-bearing/hazardous by-product handling (Music City Group), medical waste treatment as an incineration alternative (Paragon Southwest), thermal processing and chemical dissolution for aerospace/electronics/pharma/chemical sectors (Mastermelt/Amlon Sweetwater), turnkey hazardous and non-hazardous industrial waste management (Lion Industrial Resources), and a Memphis RCRA Part B TSD facility serving multiple end markets (Excel TSD). Each acquisition adds a specific permitted treatment technology or waste-stream specialty (metal-bearing, medical, thermal/chemical, general hazardous) that the platform can now offer to its existing industrial customer base, turning Amlon from a single-capability processor into a broader-service hazardous waste management provider a strong confidence | Add-on in last 6 monthsSeveral add-ons this year |
| Smith System Elevated appetite | Midocean and 1 more | 2 | 2 2 total | Sep 10, 2026 | Software platforms that capture and analyze fleet/driver data — one unifying telematics, maintenance and operational data into analytics (Utilimarc), the other an app-based telematics and driver engagement/safety platform used by global enterprise fleets (Brightmile). Both add-ons bring data-driven telematics and analytics capabilities that can be layered onto Smith System's driver safety offering and sold into the same fleet-operator customer base, deepening the product/data stack rather than adding new geography or customer segments. Evidence: 2 of 2 described add-ons (Utilimarc, Brightmile); 2 evidenced add-ons on record. emerging confidence | Add-on in last 6 monthsSeveral add-ons this year |

How the numbers are made
- Every number comes from a named public source: SEC Form ADV, Form D, EDGAR filings, a firm’s own site or a cited announcement. The source is linked beside it.
- A buy-and-build thesis is read from the add-ons a platform has actually made: their sectors, states and dates. It is an observation of behaviour, not the sponsor’s stated strategy, and it carries its confidence and quality tier.
- GAV is the gross asset value an adviser reported for a fund on Form ADV. It is not the fund’s size, its commitments or its target.
- RAUM is an adviser’s regulatory assets under management. It is not dry powder and not the size of any one fund.
- A transaction value is shown only when a party or a filing disclosed it. Otherwise it reads “Not disclosed”. Nothing is estimated into a deal.
- Unknown is shown as unknown. A candidate is labelled a candidate and is not counted as private equity coverage. A zero means nothing of that kind has been collected yet, not that none exists.
