What AI can actually use a browser and perform work on sites I'm signed into?

Short answer

The General drives a real Chrome session rather than an API, so it can work inside portals, directories and tools that have no API and would otherwise need a person.

The problem this is for

Most business software the web runs on has no API worth using. The work lives behind a login, in a portal, on a listing site, inside a directory. Automation that only speaks API cannot reach any of it.

How it works

  1. 1The Chrome tier runs as an extension in the browser you already use.
  2. 2It acts inside sessions you are already signed into, so your credentials for those sites are never sent to DFX.
  3. 3It reads pages, navigates, fills forms, and extracts what it was asked for.
  4. 4Every action is scoped: it works on the sites the job needs and is refused elsewhere.

  • The extension is a published Chrome Web Store listing, installable and inspectable before you talk to anyone.
  • Blocked categories (banks, brokerages, payroll) are enforced in the extension's own source, not by a policy document.

Limits

What this does not do

  • It is bound by what your session can do. It cannot see a system you are not signed into.
  • A site that changes its layout can break a job. The General reports the break rather than continuing on a guess.
  • Browser work is slower than an API integration where a real API exists. Where one exists, it uses it.

When to choose something else

If the system you want automated has a good API and a stable schema, an API integration is faster, cheaper and more reliable than any browser agent, including this one.
