Using filters

Filters narrow a directory. Different filters combine with AND (every one must match); several values inside one filter combine with OR. Each filter shows how many records it would return, and Clear resets them.

  • Combine: Industry = Healthcare and State = Texas returns Texas healthcare records. Choosing Texas and Florida inside State returns either.
  • Counts: a filter value shows how many records it would return, so a zero tells you before you click.
  • Presets: most directories have one-click presets (for example Most active acquirers on PE Firms, Liquidity events on Family Offices).
  • Ranges and dates: size, amount and date filters take a from and a to; leave one side empty for open-ended.
  • Observed versus stated: many markets separate what a firm says (Stated sectors, Stated EBITDA) from what it has been seen doing (Observed buying only, Observed deploying only).
  • Candidates: records that are not yet confirmed are often hidden until you turn on Include candidates.
  • Save view keeps the filters as a saved search, and Export (where offered) downloads the filtered rows.

A filter shows nothing

Remove the last filter you added, widen a range, or turn on Include candidates. A narrow combination can genuinely have no records; the counts beside each value show which filter emptied the list. Market-specific filters are described in each market's article.
